When you create an event, you have the option to assign a venue and organizer for that event. A venue is a location of an event and an organizer is a person who is organizing the event. Both of these can be reused across any event. If the information for a venue or organizer is updated, then that will be reflected across any event that they are used for.

Venues

Creating a Venue

There are two places where a new venue can be created;

1. On the Venues management page, at: Events > All Events > Venues > Add New.

2. Directly within the event editor when creating or updating an event, by clicking the “Create New” button in the “Location” section.

When creating a venue, there are multiple pieces of information you can include, such as the name, description, image, address, map URL, telephone number, website address, and any relevant social media links.

Only the name and address of a venue is displayed on the event page, however, when creating a new venue, a dedicated page will be automatically created which allows visitors to view all of the information about that venue. You can view this page by going to Events > All Events > Venues, hovering over a venue and clicking “View”.

Fields

Name (Post Title)
This is displayed anywhere the event information is displayed, such as in event listings, the event calendar, and event pages.

This is only used on the dedicated venue page. To add a map URL – which will embed a Google map of the venue – follow these steps:
1. Go to the location on Google Maps.
2. Click the “Share” button. This will display a modal with different sharing options.
3. Click the “Embed a Map” option.
4. Click the “Copy URL” option next to the URL. Changing the size won’t have any effect on the way the map is embedded.
5. Paste this into the “Interactive Map URL” field in the plugin.

Website Address
This is only displayed on the dedicated venue page. If your site uses SSL then make sure to include the “https://” at the beginning, otherwise the default “http://” will be used.

Managing a Venue

Any of the venues that you create can be managed on the “Venues” management pages which can be found at: Events > All Events > Venues.

You can choose to edit, view, or delete any venue. To edit, simply click on the name and then update the fields you wish to change. Then click the “Save” button in the top right. This will update this venue globally anywhere it is used for an event.

Organizers

By default, organizers are displayed on single event pages, towards the bottom of the page below the event information. This can be disabled so that the event organizer is not displayed, by going to Events > Settings > Events > Event Display (views) > Show in Single Event, and then disabling the “Organizers” checkbox.

Creating an Organizer

To create a new organizer, go to Events > All Events > Organizers > Add New.

Alternatively, when creating or editing an event, click the “Create New” button in the “Organizers” section. This will then display fields for you to fill in.

The organizer name, small image, and summary text will be displayed on each event page that they are the organizer for. The rest of the organizer information is displayed on a dedicated page which is automatically created for each organizer.
