How to Manually Update the Pro Plugin

If you’re having trouble updating Event Genius Pro automatically from the WordPress Plugins page, you can manually update the plugin using one of the methods below.

Quick Manual Update (Recommended)

WordPress allows you to update plugins directly using a .zip file without losing your settings or event data.

Before updating any plugin, we recommend creating a backup of your site and database. Plugins like Migrate DB can help you create backups quickly.

1. Download the latest version of Event Genius Pro from your account page or if support has provided a link to .zip file, download the .zip file and use that instead.
2. In your WordPress admin area, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
3. Click the Upload Plugin button near the top of the page.
4. Select the new Event Genius Pro .zip file from your computer.
5. Click Install Now.
6. When prompted, choose Replace current with uploaded.
7. Wait for WordPress to complete the update process.

Alternative Method: Delete and Reinstall

If the quick update method does not work, you can safely delete and reinstall the plugin files.

Before proceeding, we strongly recommend creating a backup of your site and database.

To preserve your Event Genius settings and registration data during reinstall:

• Enable Preserve Plugin Data found on the Events → Settings page/tab

You can find these settings in the plugin settings area before removing the plugin.

1. Deactivate Event Genius Pro from the Plugins page.
2. Delete the plugin.
3. Download the latest version of Event Genius Pro from your account page.
4. Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
5. Upload and install the latest .zip file.
6. Activate the plugin.

Update via FTP

If you have FTP or hosting file manager access, you can manually replace the plugin files directly on your server.

1. Download the latest version of Event Genius Pro from your account page.
2. Unzip the downloaded file on your computer.
3. Connect to your website using FTP or your hosting file manager.
4. Navigate to the plugin directory:

wp-content/plugins/event-genius-pro

5. Replace the existing plugin files with the new files from the updated version.
