The Event Genius plugin fully supports internationalization so that it can be used in any language. The sections below guide you through how to localize text, format dates, and translate text strings as needed.
Date Formats
The plugin comes with a selection of built-in date formats that you can select from to display dates in various parts of the plugin.
To change these date formats, go to Events > Settings > General > Time & Date. Here you’ll find options to change the format for the Full Date, Summary, Registration Timeline, and Time.

Use the dropdowns in the “Date Format” section to change the format for each of the date types:
Full Date – This is used in places where the full date for the event needs to be displayed, primarily on the single event details page.
Date Summary – This is a shortened version of the date which is used in event listings, or places where there is less room to display the full date.
Registration Timeline – This is used in the event registration process on the front end of the site when displaying when registration opens and closes for an event.

Time – This is used anywhere where the start or end times of the event are displayed.

Along with the preset date and time options, you can also select to enter your own custom date format. To do this, select the “Custom” option from the dropdown. This will reveal an additional field where you can enter a date format.

See here for more information on how to create a custom date format.
Translating Front End Text
There are multiple text strings which are displayed in the events and listings on the front end of your website. The plugin will do its best to automatically translate these into the same language that your WordPress site is in (as defined by the “Site Language” setting on your main WordPress General Settings page). Note: If you notice an issue in the accuracy of any of these automatic translations, please contact us to let us know so that we can update it in the plugin for both you and any other users using that same language.
You can manually override the translation of any of these strings by using the Text & Translation settings built into the Event Genius plugin.
To do this, go to Events > Settings > Text & Translation. Here, you’ll find fields to change the text used on the front end of the plugin. Just hover over the tooltip next to each field for a description of where that text is used.

The fields are sorted into “Event” and “Registration” tabs.

Translating Admin Settings Pages
The admin settings pages are currently displayed in English as the primary languages, although other popular languages will be coming to the plugin in future updates. If you wish to manually translate the plugin settings page into another language then the Event Genius plugin supports WPML and translation plugins like Loco Translate.
To translate the plugin admin text using Loco Translate, just follow the steps below:
1. Search the WordPress Plugins repository for “Loco Translate” and install the plugin.

2. After activating, click on the “Loco Translate” menu option, then in the “Running Plugins” section, select “Event Genius”.

3. Click “New Language”.

4. In the “Choose a language” section, select the language you’d like to translate into.

5. Then click “Start Translating”.

6. In the “Source Text” section you’ll see a list of all of the text on the Event Genius plugin admin pages.

7. Use the field below to enter the translation for each string. When you are done, just click “Save”.
Once completed, if you’d like to benefit others by sharing your translation file with us then we can include it in the plugin for others to use going forward, and of course provide credit to you for your help. Just contact us to let us know.
